Guest guest
I had 2 hernia surgeries due to incisional hernias. I was in overnight with both. Usually hernia surgeries are in and out the same day. There was pain but not as bad as the rny. The intestine is pushed back through the muscle and the muscle is stitched. The 2nd surgery my surgeon put a mesh over my entire incision line because she said I had a *swiss cheesy* thing going along the incision. Of course coming from 463lbs incisional hernias are quite common. I have not had any problem since. I was back to cardio workouts in a week and it was about 6 weeks for the weight training.. Rita in Vermont rny 3/31/94 463 lbs hernia #1 7/95 Baby 8/96 via c section constricted bowel surgery 5/97 hernia repair #2 10/98 tummy tuck 7/01 190 lbs No more surgeries I hope...... > > I am having hernia surgery next Wednesday July 17 > > here in Plattsburgh, NY. Guest guest
Hi, wondering if someone can give me some advice about a hernia. I have a quite large one, which will be operated on in December. I had just started working out at a gym, doing mostly water aerobics. However, since starting the gym, I have noticed that the hernia is bigger and more difficult to push in, the way I used to be able to. It is also rather uncomfortable when I am lying on my side, to the extent that I got up in the middle of the night to put on a pair of elasticized panties to provide some support. What I am wondering is, should I wait on the gym until after I have the hernia taken care of? also any other advice about how to live safely and as comfortably as possible with this thing. Thanks! marilyn " Ferris. " wrote: > Hello All, > Even though I do not post often I read in digest form everyday. I am dying to communicate with others who were super obese prior to surgery. I have the need to know what to expect for those of us who were 450 and above before surgery. I have released 190 so far but have stabilized for the past three months to no avail. The only thing different is I have been put on hrt..I do no know if this is the cause. > > I also have an extremely large incisional hernia that my doctor did not want to repair. I left my medical group and got a second opinion and the new surgeon gave me hope. He did inform me that the repair would more than likely be more painful than the open RNY and that my hospital stay would be 5 to 10 days. I am going to try to lose some more weight and probably do surgery just before the holidays or shortly after. I am so happy that I finally have someone that is willing to help me. This hernia has definitely changed my lifestyle. hard to sleep and get comfortable and exercise is a nightmare...so am glad I finally have the opportunity to have it repaired. > > I am increasing my protein intake and am hoping to drop more weight. > > Thank you all for listening, > > > UCD Open RNY > UCD Sacramento > 470 - 297 > > hoax info > > The letter about the aspartame and all is a well known hoax put out on the Internet. Guest guest
Tammy when I had my surg May 16 I also had an umbilical hernia the Dr.'s fixed it while they were in there. I've been fine with that since and the scar is so very small I didn't even know I had the hernia either. I was wondering what experiences you all have had with having a hernia in this experience and what I should do? I want to hear good and bad please. ThanksTammy Yahoo! Mail for Mobile Take Yahoo!
