Guest guest
What do you really consider a honeymoon period? 1yr, 2 yrs, 3 yrs or more? Today is my 3yr post op anniversary for my BPD/DS. I have an 8 oz stomach and I am a distal with only 100 cm common channel. I lost 125 lbs the 1st yr, 15 lbs the 2nd yr and 10 lbs this yr for a total of 150. I am a size 6/8. I do not diet. I eat what I want when I want. I have to eat at least 75g of protein every day. Other than a 5 lb up and down with water weight, I have not put on any weight. But you are right. There is no " get out of jail free card " . There are trade offs with every surgery. I have to be monitored for mal-nutrition for the rest of my life. I can not slack off on my vitamins. I worry that when I am a Sr Citizen I will not be able to eat enough protein or afford all the supplements I have to take every day or the blood tests that I have done every 6 months. (Having an aged parent makes you think of these things.) But in spite of all the trade offs, I am happy with my choice. > No acerbic wit -- just my suspicion (and that's all it is since I've had > only RNY) that no surgery gives you a Get Out of Jail Free card -- it's as > much a tool for DS as it is for RNY, and there's no 50-year " honeymoon.
