Guest guest
Barbara and others who answered my LTC and hospice questions, thank you. I don't have LTC ins. You not only have to be 'well' when applying, even a history of something can knock one out, even if the problem has been resolved. In the '80's I was a hospice volunteer, at that time they were taking just cancer patients. Our hospital also had a home health dept that took care of everything else, but it was all pretty restrictive then. I think anymore if a person lingers they're re-certified. Later the hospital inherited a couple of older homes (it was on the edge of a historic district) and it couldn't tear them down. So bucoo bucks for refurbishing later, we have a Hospice House and a Hope House side by side for terminal patients. Since then several outfits are in town offering hospice and in-home services. I don't need them yet, but want to know what to look for down the road before the need gets critical. I was curious where MSA fit into the picture. Jean, I read the Afterburner, I think we get it after you do. I looked up the web site, those questions are something else, I wonder what they mean by 'human' help, LOL, chimps won't do. Probably too old anyway, but it doesn't hurt to search. They mention offering a non-standard or services-only policy?? We'll see what they're about. (You had heat over us, but the humidity was awful, we're between two rivers). Marg, my B/P goes all over the place, I got a wrist B/P cuff and monitor it all the time. My lows are worse after eating, I've finally adjusted to eating less and lighter, and highs and lows can happen if I sit too long, like reading or watching a ballgame, so I try to move around more. Nice and much cooler today, lots of thunder and rain. A tugboat ran into our railroad bridge Sunday then two barges broke loose and hit our main bridge downstream that connects MO & KS. Luckily no serious damage, but they closed the bridge for over 2 hrs, which meant anyone going to work would had had to drive over an hour to Nebraska to cross or down to Kansas.
