Guest guest
Hi Karin: My advise to you as an RNY er: Listen to what your surgeon tells you to do after your surgery. I listened to everything. Went to all my follow up visits and followed his diet. I don't dump (unless I eat alot of sugar on empty) and dumping only consists of a " green " feeling, or slight nausea and tired. First dump was on white cranberry juice. I didn't even think it had that much sugar in it. I had 2 glasses and then it hit me. I can have 1 cookie or sweet and feel fine. But that's all I allow myself, I don't want to cross that boundary. I do not dump on any type of fat. I can eat just about anything in a " normal " amount. Things that bother me slightly are pork chops (fill me up FAST) and broccoli is hard to digest for me. Remember, everyone is different. It's been 14 months since my surgery and I am still loosing weight. I have around 35-40 more until I reach my goal. O.K. I'll take off my rose colored glasses...Beware: The only thing I had trouble with was alcohol. I switched my food addiction to alcohol (started about 6 mos. after surgery). I now attend AA meeting at least 4x per week. Try to stay as healthy as you can for the surgery. I wish you all the best on your new journey & a speedy recovery... Janene West Haven, CT 8/30/01 297/186 1 Year from origiinal WLS Hello all I am now offically one year from my origianal wls, I had A vbg last year at this time,,Since that date I have been only eating soft or pureed foods as anything else causes pain and vomiting or nausea. I have had endoscopys and a larger band put on..Still can eat any well chewed solids. I have lost 136 lbs from 251 to 115. Now On Nov 25 I am going to be revised to an RNY to try to get a larger opening...Pouch size is about 3 ounces. Does any one have any advise for me.. Oh yes I had to switch surgeons as the original surgeon says well You can either learn to live the way you are or Ill undo it all and you can be fat again....My insurance company was outraged and reccomended I get another opinion with a new surgeon, First surgeon is supposed to be the tops in his field too! HA! I am 5'4 " tall down from a size 22 to a size 6 juniors and my bones stick out like an anorexic, I don't want to lose more weight just be able to eat more nutrious foods in a small qty. So what advise should I know before I live as an RNYer??? I have never posted here before but have been reading for quite a few months.. Thanks for your time..Karin/Weinette Homepage: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG Unsubscribe: mailto:Graduate-OSSG-unsubscribe
