Yes, trying to 2nd guess just don't get it this time, does it!! :>)

Mother has had scans about every other year or 2 for quite some time now

but since they always still looked pretty good, no one could figure out

what was happening to her. My brothers and I kept telling them she had

been this way for almost 40 years already and no one was listening.

Actually, I think most of her doctors thought I was the crazy one.

Since none of them really saw the bizarre side of her, they would just

shake their heads.

The decline had been a slow crawl from about age 40 and her habit of

picking up to move every time she had been someplace more than a few

years didn't help. This last year has been a fast slide. I thought

something would have shown up last summer on her scans because the

speech and word finding had gotten so bad but I just don't think they

were paying attention to what I was telling them.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Louise. Sometimes I do wonder if

it's me or her. I think she will finally be ok in this last place.

They at least knew what they were getting into before they took her so

they know they have to really watch her or she'll be gone. The hardest

part for me right now is that the sight of me sets her into a cussing

frenzy so I must keep my distance. I hope that will pass so I can once

again spend some time with her.

Hang on Louise

Sally

Sally,

Your mother's situation sounds similar to my aunt's. She can be very sweet

to my mom and dad, but if her sister comes around she turns into a very vile

person. She uses profanity that I'm sure she would be mortified to hear if

she were her old self. She is in an Alzheimer's unit and is quite miserable

there. After reading your messages it makes me wonder if she has something

similar to your mom.

I also wonder about all the brain disorders we have in my family. I have had

two aunts and two great aunts with Alzheimer's or some other type of dementia

plus my dad has MSA. I'm not aware of anyone else having Parkinson's or

MSA-type problems, but the familial link with dementia has me a bit concerned

for what my future holds.

Take care,

Cindy

Cindy,

One can have their DNA checked for several neurological disorders.

MSA has been proven not to be passed on to other generations.
