Guest guest
Hi Everyone! Well, after months of waiting for my PS's office to co-ordinate his schedule w/ my benefits coordinator, I had a circumferential Truncoplasty on 7/3/02. WOW! I had been reading (and posting on occasion)and really thought I was well informed and going into this with eyes wide open. I THINK I was pretty well prepared. One thing I forgot about was that when I had my RNY on 5/30/00, I had an issue where the incision just didn't want to close in one area about the size of a quarter.I had to pack it daily until it did close 3 weeks later. Now that was with an 8 " incision. What made me think I wouldn't run into the same issue this time around with an incision that runs horizonatlly around my hips (and dips in the front) and runs vertically over my old incision??? I guess that once I got over that hurdle, I just never thought more about it again. Now, I'm not saying I expected absolute perfection here. I knew it was a large undertaking, but here I am almost 3 weeks out and my new bellybutton just won't seem to heal over. I also have areas in the front that form scabs (Ewww...sorry) but beneath the surface are just soft and runny and oozing slightly. Last night I had a clearish (w/ pink tinge)stream of fluid running from another area. That has since dried up. Can any of you wise and experienced peers tell me of your healing experiences so that I can stop the panic button in my head until I see my PS for follow up on Friday? My PS did say that with an incision this large it is not uncommon for some areas to be slow to heal or even small infections. Now I do have red areas that are slightly tender to the touch where the healing just doesn't seem to be going well. Do any of you who have experienced anything similar know what the remedy was? I am just a little bit nervous and heading back to work tomorrow and wonder if I'm going to need some incisional revisions. Any help or guidance is really appreciated!
