Guest guest
Hi I am 2.5 weeks away from being an official grad, but had to share this theory I have about skin tags... : ) I have always believed that skin tags grow in areas where there is increased friction over the skin. Not heavy friction, like between our legs, (god forbid) but ever so light friction, like that from a necklace or collar area, etc. I think the key here is that the most superficial layers of skin are rubbed, and some of the supporting tissue underneath comes a little loose, allowing the outpocketing of skin to grow in the form of a skin tag. I have a friend who has a nervous twitch with his eyes. Of course the area around his eyes is constantly uncontrollably contracting, and interestingly, he has an unbelievable amount of skin tags around the eye area. Go figure... Anyway, those of us who have lots of excess weight also have lots of excess skin, complete with lots of excess little (and not so little) fat rolls that cause the skin to rub, and this is why I believe we have more skin tags. Does this make any sense? I also have a theory that people who have these out pocketings on the outside of their bodies might have the same weakness on the inside, ie, their digestive tract, and might be prone to diverticuli and such, but that is total speculation on my part! Let me know what you think of my medical hypothesis! LOL Arlene
