I have friends in high places in the regulation business and they've known

how horribly dangerous ephedrine (ma-huang) is for YEARS. They do studies,

present the evidence, and then get shot down by a politician on the dole.

Not direct payoffs, just campaign contributing like you mention. It can

cause death at recommended dosages in healthy people. Please beware.
