Hernia and super obese

Hello All,

Even though I do not post often I read in digest form everyday. I am dying to

communicate with others who were super obese prior to surgery. I have the need

to know what to expect for those of us who were 450 and above before surgery. I

have released 190 so far but have stabilized for the past three months to no

avail. The only thing different is I have been put on hrt..I do no know if this

is the cause.

I also have an extremely large incisional hernia that my doctor did not want to

repair. I left my medical group and got a second opinion and the new surgeon

gave me hope. He did inform me that the repair would more than likely be more

painful than the open RNY and that my hospital stay would be 5 to 10 days. I am

going to try to lose some more weight and probably do surgery just before the

holidays or shortly after. I am so happy that I finally have someone that is

willing to help me. This hernia has definitely changed my lifestyle. hard to

sleep and get comfortable and exercise is a nightmare...so am glad I finally

have the opportunity to have it repaired.

I am increasing my protein intake and am hoping to drop more weight.

Thank you all for listening,
