Guest guest
Hi, I lurked for a whole year, then when it was my time to finally post nothing seemed all that important. My name is Judi and I live in Maine on the NH/Maine border. I has an open RNY 8/2/01 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in NH. I've lost about 110 pounds and am doing great! I wanted to jump in on the sleep discussion. I have also had a disruptive sleep pattern since about 2-3 months out from surgery. Until you began talking about it, I thought mine was menopausal (it still could be, I guess:). Anyway, mine began as what they call " early awakening " insomnia. Had my usual " fall asleep when my head hits the pillow " sleep that I've always had, then 3 a.m. - wide awake and no getting back to sleep. This happened for months, then I ready something about 5-HTP which is available at GNC (and other health food stores I'm sure). It's griffonia bean extract and it helped me sleep again. It's sold as 5-HTP though. I stopped taking it during the summer and though I was OK again, but about 3 weeks later the same sleep pattern began again. It's useful for other things also - you can check it out on the web. It's good stuff and natural too! Judi from Maine 280/170/
