Dawn, I am truly amazed that your doctor has let this "cold" go on so long. At this point it has gone from being an acute infection (meaning short term) to a chronic (lasting more then two months).

Just from what you have stated that the cough causing breathing problem and that you can not sleep through red flags everywhere in my mind.

Whether or not you have RP is not the issue. The issue at hand is what is causing you to stay ill. You really should see a pulmonary doctor AND an ENT to get to the bottom of this cold issue.

ANYTIME breathing is impaired, even in a minor fashion, it needs to be addressed.

P. is correct. Throat involvement in RP must be treat aggressively. Airway complication are the leading cause of death with persons with RP.

Had I realized that my long term cold that was "just me" was a warning sign them possibly my trachea would not have collapsed.

Chronic coughs, running noses, water eyes, sore inflamed throats, disrupted breathing can all be caused by the inflammation produced when are immune system attacks a certain area within the sinus canal. The cough could be caused by post nasal drip that irritants the lining of the trachea. All these factors need to be addressed because they could only be a "chronic cold" or they could be the warning signs of RP spreading. Either case is not good IF you do not have your doctors find out the cause.

Fatigue is another factor that really needs to be addressed. Don't let anyone blame fatigue on the medications. Yes they cause fatigue. But why? Is it because they are hindering your system from absorbing the correct vitamins and minerals that you need? Is it producing a higher then normal blood sugar level? Why is it causing you fatigue?

Please, get into see a pulmonary doctor and an ENT and get your health back in line.
