Hello everyone!

So sorry I did not wait around long enough Thursday 8/16 for

anyone's answers. I was just tired of hurting so bad and this

had been going on for about 2 weeks and getting worse every day.

So, I called my surgeon and he had me come to his office for an

examination then promptly sent me straight to the hospital, do

not pass Go, do not collect $200.00. LOL!

He did lots of tests Friday and on Monday I had to have

exploratory surgery. I was in way more trouble than I ever

thought I was. Firstly, I did have kinked small bowels that

were partially obstructed. This was all due to adhessions.

Then, since I have had reflux for over 3 years my 'flap' at the

base of my esophogus (sp) was partially eroded and I had a

hiatel hernia. He had to use part of my pouch to creat a new

flap and repair the hernia. Making my pouch 1oz again. Then,

(no I'm not done yet!!) I had an ulcer at the connection of my

pouch to my small intestines. He disconnected that and removed

part of my small intestines to remove the ulcerated area and

reconnected it back to the pouch. He talked to me on Wednesday

afternoon and told me that now I am a Distal RNY. I have to go

back for a check up this coming Tuesday because he said we will

need to discuss future eating and supplements because everything

is going to be very different for me. Of course, I am back on

the infamous " liquid diet " every new post op enjoys so much.

LOL! I guess the only good thing I can think of so far that has

come of all of this is that he told me I should be prepare to

loose more weight and while I am thinking " yippee! " he seems

gravely concerned about that possibilty. (He already thinks I

am at goal weight) He had a lengthy discussion with my husband

over all this an now my husband is a WRECK!!! I told them both

I chat daily with many other Distals and could get lots of great

information and help from all of you to guide me on my newest

WLS journey.

Thank you all for the answers I did get, just please forgive me

in that I did not reply to each of you. This is also my first

day back on the computer and though I have only been on here

about 1/2 hour - I am getting really tired and must go lay down

again.

Thank you all again for your care and concern, I am back and I

know with all your help will do just fine.
