Guest guest
Hi Folks-- Thank you all so much for the replies, words of wisdom and encouragement. Since several of you asked me to pass on what I have learned, this seems to be the take on losing weight after one year according to those who have resumed losing weight after long plateaus or even weight gains after the first year or even 2-3 years: The 12-18 month " window " for weight loss does not refer to an all or nothing thing. It is easier to lose weight the first year, but if your pouch is intact, weight loss farther out is quite possible and still not as hard as it was prior to WLS. Protein, Protein, Protein...most responders swear by returning to protein and veggies and limited complex carbs. Sweets are to be avoided because of the ongoing hunger it generates (an insulin-based phemonenon). Drink protein supplements. Many responders believe that continuing or resuming protein drinks is important to continuing weight loss. Drink water--and lots of it. It stretches the pouch to reduce hunger, and provides the body with water which is needed for fat breakdown & use. Of course, EXERCISE--and anything is better than nothing. So, these are the words of wisdom from the pros with experience. Thank you all very much, and I hope this summary helps others in my position. It sure has raised by morale!!! Good luck to us all, and God Bless the families affected by 9/11/01. -- in WV in town, WV (formerly of Wilmington, NC) Lap RNY 9/7/2001--down 82 lbs (from 250) --------------------------------- Yahoo! - We Remember 9-11: A tribute to the more than 3,000 lives lost
