Dear Connie. I too stopped losing weight after 6months. Had a prox.

rny of Nov. 99. Had the UGI and told my pouch was intact--so why was

this surg. not working? My surg. blamed me because I added a baked

potato a day to help stop the diarrhea I had for so long. We were to

stay on the adkins until 80% of the weight was off. I always felt

something was not right and obtained several opinions about my UGI

and lack of weight loss.. Each said the stoma was to large, the ring

was tilted attributing to the additional weight gain, along with my

diabetes meds. I posted the NEW and WORRIED around the 14th here,

but did not get any personal replies. So I was glad to read you post

as well as 's who spoke such truth. My only regret was that now

I do have mucosal ulcers and esophageal reflux with atypical cells.

I take iron supplements to help my hemaglobin go back up. I started

at 230 went to 168 and slowly started to gain, especially after an

increase in my diabetic meds.Went to 207 back down to 200, and

5'1/2 " . I did have 2 Doctors, not the original surgeon say the

operation failed you, not that you failed the operation. That meant

alot to me because i wanted this surg. to work and I worked with it.

So I do understand how you feel. You have a good atitude and that's

good. For me my 2nd UGI indicated my pouch was intact and resting on

the small bowel. The radiologist said that is the reason for the

weight gain. Plus there is no evidence of the ring the surgeon put

on. I remember telling my original surgeon that my one Dr., 2nd

opinion, said my ring looked loose and possibly tilted. The original

surgeon said no way!--Well where is my ring?? JUst goes to show you

we all are human and human mistakes are made. I am looking into a

revision because my diabetes is back with a vengence. But i need to

get the ulcers healed up first. I have been researching ds, bpd/ds

and long limb roux-distal gastric bypass. I don't know if i can

leave the existing pouch alone since it has created a secondary

stomach and is lying on the small bowel. I have never heard of only

losing 25 lbswith revisions. I have heard it is harder and riskier

and leaks can happen easier than a first-time person. I know there

is a good article on pouch for dummies that supposedly helps the

person get that pouch up and going again. I am glad you posted and I

wish you sucess. heidi
