I haven't posted in quite some time, but felt compelled to post on this

one! I, for one, am 3 years out, and have never felt better - I usually

get pneumonia at LEAST once a year - and have not even had a cold in 3

years. Cannot speak for long, long term, but in 3 years, except for a

bout with the flu once or twice, my sick leave at work has been strictly

for pleasure (smile). I went from 317 to 139 and except for a monthly

B-12 shot, have been so healthy it is almost scary.

To weigh the odds, day in and day out - you will most certainly be able

to talk yourself out of surgery - but stop for a moment and ask yourself

what co-morbidities would do to you over a 10-15 year period. Ask

yourself what the quality of life, in that 10-15 year period would be

like and then try to imagine your life (for that same 10-15 year period)

as a thin person. Enjoying life, not feeling ashamed, not feeling

tired, worn out, etc. One must weigh the odds, but do not listen to

everything that comes along without thinking about what the average WLS

patient has to say.

O, for one, would do it again, and again, and again.

Good luck to you!

Hey Michele! Hope all is well with you!

Love

LUPAS? IMMUNE DISORDERS?LOW LIFE EXSPECTANCY?

I know that we are not suppose to post unless we are a " graduate "

but I have beed reading some stuff that is realy starting to scare

me and I want to find out more befor I do this. And I could not

think of a better place to ask then here.

What I have been reading is that long term this surgery does more

harm then good that alot people get lupas and other dieses of the

immune system from it. That it weakens the immune system to the

point that patients catch everything that comes along. I Also read

that the life exspectance for some one that had this surgery had a

life exspectancy of 10-15 years. Can any one tell me if what i am

reading is accurate. Any one on the list that is 10 years out or

more? whould you do it again?

I hope that this is allowed to be posted. I want the changes that

this surgery can give my life but I want to the bad as well as the

good when i make my final desision and this stuff really worries me.

Thank you for letting me ask
