New Citracal formula with added minerals

I'm excited about a new Citracal formula that I found at Walgreen's tonight. (I

am in no way affiliated with the manufacturer of this supplement). It's called

" Citracal Plus with Magnesium/Ultradense Calcium Citrate/Vitamin D and

multi-mineral supplement " .

Here's what 2 tablets contain, per their labeling (quantity, then RDA

percentage):

Calcium (as Ultradense calcium citrate): 500 mg 50%

Vitamin D3 (as cholecalciferol) 250 IU 62%

Vitamin B6 (as pyridoxine hydrochloride) 10 mg 500%

Magnesium (as magnesium oxide) 80 mg 20%

Zinc (as zinc oxide) 10 mg 66%

Copper (as copper gluconate) 1 mg 50%

Manganese (as manganese gluconate) 1 mg 50%

Boron (as sodium borate) 1 mg (daily value not established)

Ingredients (from the label): calcium citrate, polyethylene glycol, magnesium

oxide, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, povidone, croscarmellose sodium, color

added, pyridoxine hydrochloride, zinc oxide, sodium borate, manganese gluconate,

copper gluconate, magnesium silicate, maltodextrin, magnesium stearate, vitamin

D3.

Bottle of 150 was $11.99 @ Walgreens; will be cheaper at Target and Wal-Mart if

you can find it there. That's about 63 cents a day if you aim for 2000 mg of

calcium (8 tablets).

The tablets are biggish flat ovals. I predict these will be easier to swallow

than the smaller but chunkier Citracals that I'm taking now. I'm switching over

to these for three out of my four calcium doses a day (my vitamin D levels are a

little high, so my fourth dose is a straight calcium citrate formula). As I

understand it, adding magnesium is helpful (though this is not enough, according

to the calcium to magnesium ratio of two to one that I've heard), and the

vitamin D and boron are helpful in calcium absorption as well. The zinc, copper,

and manganese are bonus freeloaders. :-)
