Guest guest
HI The way I heard it is that the tonsils are the first line defense for IMMUNE system, stop us inhaling and ingesting stuff we're not supposed too. So wouldn't inflammed tonsils be doing their job OR be 'malfunctioning' for being too 'turned on'. So if you take out the tonsils, zero defence, move the problem to gut........... I would be inclined to try the enzymes first Mandi in UK PS Now use Zinc and Vit C lozenges for my kids, no swollen tonsils now but they didn't have the problem as bad as your child > This is just a suggestion, but I would take your child to see an " Ear, Nose > and > Throat Specialist " , or ENT for short. The reason for the constant swollen > tonsils could in fact be because of the overuse of antibiotics, and their > failure > to fully treat the problem now. As well, I thought I would also mention, > that > recently I watched a program that was talking about kids with swollen > tonsils, > alot of mucus, and chronic ear infections. Guest guest
Lian, Our 3 year old daughter started having problems with enlarged tonsils and adenoids last Thanksgiving. She had a really bad Winter illness- wise and much night waking/crying and snoring. We finally took her to an ENT doc who of course wanted to remove her tonsils and adenoids. She made the statement that probably at least half of the kids she treats that have the diagnosis of ADHD no longer has it after tonsils are removed. Because our daughter has such a significant family history of allergies I decided I wanted to have her tested first for allergies. The ENT doc said there was some chance that that might help. a (our daughter) has had 2 days of testing (our allergist uses provocation/neutralization testing) and lo and behold she was allergic to more things than she wasn't! So far we have only tested her for inhalant allergies because she has been on a hypoallergenic diet since before she was quite 2 years old because her 5 1/2 year old brother has ASD and we were treating him with diet. a has just started her allergy drops but has been on Nasonex for a while which did allow her to start breathing through her nose again. At this point her tonsils are still quite enlarged but want to give the drops some time to work and then go from there. Rosie Semak
