Guest guest
How much benadryl did you take (and by the way, tylenol PM is tylenol and benadryl)? In kids, benadryl, and other meds, a dose that isn't high enough can cause a reverse effect. Example, you expect actifed to make a kid sleepy, but sometimes we hear it makes them bounce off the walls. Usually it is because it wasn't the proper dose for their weight (mom dosed by the age on the box, not the weight), although the rare kid exists that can't take it. Did you take 25mg, or 100mg? 100mg will help nearly all adults get 6-8 hours of consistent sleep. Don't use alcohol prior, or do anything overly stimulating, like exercise in the 2 hours prior to trying to go the sleep. You can also call you doc, and ask if s/he will prescribe 2-3 days worth of sleeping pills to get you over this hump and back into a normal sleeping pattern. There are several very good ones---Ambien, Trazadone, Restoril and others. (Lets not start a sleeping pill war, different ones work for different people.) I hope something here helps and you have good dreams soon. doc carolyn, just my opinion, of course Insomnia HELP. On my fourth or fifth day of insomnia. So tired I lost count. Anybody have any ideas? Have tried the Benadryl thing, only made it worse by making me feel like I was crawling out of my skin. Guess can add that to the list of things I can't take. Tried Tylenol PM, nothing. All my x-mas presents are wrapped. My cards are signed, sealed and waiting for stamps. Bills and laundry are up to date. The kitchen and bathrooms are cleaned. Have had a migraine for the last two days, I'm sure it's due to lack of sleep, but can't even do my homework because I can't stand reading or the lights being on. Have counted sheep, sea otters and dogs. Don't ask. I'm desperate. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Usually get insomnia once or twice a year ever since I could remember, but since I've had wls it's been a heck of a lot more often. Has anyone had this happen to them? I used to be such a good sleeper, though never needed a lot of it, but what I got was quality. Can't even say that anymore.
