Guest guest
Marg: Even if you go to the Mayo, what will you have achieved, unless you can afford to live in the US the treatments available to you will not improve. Think hard before you spend the money, you might be better off spending it on PT, better foods, rainy day fund. I too am frightened by the changes in health care, and I know the treatment I've been getting is sub-standard at best. I'm terrified of losing ground because there will not be long or acute care beds for us, and our illness has no support group within reach. If you have a good GP put him/her in contact with resources in the states (mine is internet friendly, and willing to do the reading). More testing won't cure you, treatment is still symptomatic, a well informed GP can manage that part nicely. Even if the grass is greener on the other side, can we afford it, will it improve your life or just take precious funds and moments away? Of course, if you can afford it, go girl.
