Guest guest
Hi, I have just been refused the medical part of travel insurance. I was diagnosed with SDS/PAF last year so was hoping to get as much travel in as possible whilst I still could. Has anyone any advice about this? Do I still travel and hope for the best? They seemed to be worried that I'd faint and cause difficulties but I don't faint anymore. Many thanks, Ros Davies Sydney Australia
Guest guest
Ros, Rob and I have made several trips and have gotten travel insurance each time. There is ususlly an exclusion for pre-existing conditions, but I have always believed that if our trip is interrupted for adn SDS/MSA reason it will be because of bladder infection or pneumonia, which although by-products of SDS/MSA are not in themselves pre-existing. I would suggest a few things: 1.) Talk to the insurence company, and provide a letter from your doctor if they think that would help. 2.) Investigate some other insurance companies. Sometimes they have different policies on what is acceptable. 3.) If worse comes to worse, go without the travel insurance. There is a small chance that your trip will be interrupted and you will lose money, but generally the carriers are pretty understanding and will let you re-book within a certain period of time. Do be sure that you have coverage for medical events that might happen outside the country. In the US that can be a separate policy. Go, see the world. Enjoy!
