Hi everyone,

I had my surgery 5/15/01 and I have lost 140 pounds. I'm been losing

slowly but consistently and I still have another 80 to go. I chose a dr.

who didn't have the best post-op program so here I am with questions. The

first year I tried to listen to what my body craves and I did ok. I've only

thrown up once. I know when full is now. I do eat healthier than I did

before surgery. I can go on and on how my life has changed for the better

because of this surgery. How I feel I have a life and a future now. But I

do notice if I fall back into my old habits of eating not the healthiest foods,

I start to feel awful until I go back to healthy foods. I want to try to

get into a daily habit of eating healthy so I don't have these periods

where I feel awful. Other than protein, what all do you keep track of as

far as eating? I had an RNY. I don't feel comfortable going to the

nutritionist at my clinic because she was against this surgery. I just

started a nutrition class so that will help but I wanted to know what

those of you who have been out for awhile, how you monitor yourself to

know that you are eating healthy but not obsessively(in a bad way). Do you

count the # fruits, vegies? Or protein, carb grams? or things like iron,

calcium, etc...? I'm going to pull out my old sheets from my dr so I will

know there will be specific info in there but I would still like to hear

what others do.

Thanks!
