Guest guest Posted October 9, 2002 Report Share Posted October 9, 2002 I have found a snack to die for. Fried pork rinds. Every so often I get SUCH a craving for something salty and crunchy. Have tried satisfying it with chickpea meal snacks (product of India) and with tortilla chips, trying to stick to whole grain stuff while I'm sinning......... Half of a 2-1/4 oz bag of chicarron has 200 calories, most of them from fat (I know, I know; but I omit a meal when I do this), no sugar, no carbs, and 17-1/2 grams protein. The same oz of tortilla chips is only 140 calories, but only 2g protein, and a whopping 19g carbs. Am I kidding myself here that the pork rinds are a better choice, IF I'm gonna snack anyway? I mean, we don't absorb that much fat, right? So less damage done snacking on almost pure fat with lotsa protein than on lotsa carbs?? Say yes, say yes................
