Guest guest
Eileen Upper GI bloating is one of my chronic symptoms as I have poor digestive motility due to Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. The severity of bloating fluctuates depending on what I eat, but there's always some. Means I wear a pant size bigger to get the looser waistband, as my upper GI also won't tolerate any pressure -- the bloating is enough for it. I hadn't given it any thought, whether the stomach is hard or nor when I feel bloated. I just tested it, as I ate 2 hours ago so my stomach is still full-ish, and I have my usual after-meal bloating. Stomach feels rather hard, and now that I think of it, my entire upper GI feels hard throughout the day. Then when I wake up at 3 am with my usual nausea and chills, my stomach feels soft and flat as it is completely empty, which feels so odd compared to how I feel throughout the day. Not sure this is any help!! Bloating usually indicates excessive bacterial activity, which could also include other microorganisms such as yeast. At least I think so, but haven't researched that aspect to candida overgrowth. But I think bloating can also occur when there's a slowdown in digestive motility, so there's just more volume moving through the intestinal tract. It's why I eat small meals and just eat more often throughout the day. Keeps the discomfort level down. Kim M. SCD 5+ years

Eileen, I think you are just experiencing the joys of an aging human body and the reason that abdominal workout gizmos are so popular on tv. Most women have to work really hard for an absolutely flat belly - the fact that you didn't before makes you lucky. But age and changing metabolism changes all this. > never feel really flat now even on best days??? and I don't weigh > anymore - is this bloating or yeast (which i have tons of )or what?? Well you can always check with your doctor next you see him/her. But it sounds like pilates would help to tighten everything up. Guest guest
Okay - sorry for the mix-up. Yeah, the morning - evening thing is a sure sign of diet related bloating. You are still doing anti-candida treatment, right? So maybe it is die off or something related to that. Or could be something related to cycle - possibly??? Guest guest
Not to be a voice of gloom, but bloating just might be a chronic symptom -- the way your digestion works now. There are lots of us who end up with this chronic symptom since our digestions move more slowly once we develop digestive disorders. Yes, we heal, and our gut ecology becomes balanced again, but our digetive motility is just slower than it was before. Of course you should probably consider all the supplements you're taking too, and whether you're eating foods too advanced for you right now. Hopefully the bloating will vanish the longer you're on SCD. But it can be coped with if it doesn't. Kim M. SCD 5+ years
