Just wanted to tell everyone that I found freeze dried (not regular

dried banana chips) bananas at TJs yesterday! If you can tolerate

bananas, then they aren't advanced or anything like dried fruit is

because they're just dehydrated, and they're portable and non-

perishable and everything! Since I can't have dried fruit, whole nuts,

or larabars yet, I'm really excited that I've found something to keep

with me in my purse or backpack as a just-in-case.

Alyssa, Just a FYI...the thing you have to think about is ...was the fruit treated first so it doesn't discolor and was it at the proper ripeness that is needed for scd. It is also a condensed fruit so harder to digest. Katy

I ate a bunch last night and didn't have any issues though, so I trust them anyways. It is also a condensed fruit so harder to digest.I thought about this, but these are different from dried fruit. The only thing different between the freeze dried bananas and regular bananas is lack of water, so technically, if you drink a small glass of water with the bananas, there's really no difference. Unlike the dried banana chips which they also have at TJ's, which WOULD be harder to digest. That's how I see it, anyways. Alyssa, I don't want to scare you and I hope the product is good, just remember that you are on prednisone and it can mask symptoms. Katy

Alyssa,

You still don't know how ripe the bananas were when they were

freeze-dried.

And, being freeze-dried and crunchy, it's real easy to over-do on

them.

Dried, freeze-dried -- really no difference, except for the water. So, if

dried fruits are advanced stage food, so are freeze-dried ones.

I've seen them too at camping stores. The only concern I have is how ripe they

were before processing- or if something was added. That said- I can imagine that

it is tough to be a teenager on SCD. The idea that you can tolerate them and

keep them on hand in emergencies is good...certainly better than eating

something downright illegal if you get stuck. So as an " emergency " item it may

be better than the alternative- but not part of a regular diet. Maybe you could

write the company to be sure nothing is added to them.
