I was tapering off the pred because I was on 40mg a day and it was doing nothing for me. No good or bad. I had no side effects from it (first time I used it I had joint pain among other things). I think my body adjusted to the prednisone and now it doesn't do anything. So, the long term effects vs benefit was not worth it to me. Instead, I was using hydrocortisone enemas. Called entocort in the USA. It's considered a foam but they still come in little plastic bottles. I was only using it before when I was in alot of pain or had alot of bleeding. It would stop this over night. That way I could function the next day. If I didn't have anything going on one day I wouldn't use it and I would just deal with the bathroom issues. I was trying to let the diet work without using medicine which is why I was going this route. I have since changed my plan and I used the entocort enema's every night for 21 days straight. Now i'm skipping 2 days in between uses. I'm also taking the asacol 4 pills 3 times a day at the same time. I'm still foillowing scd 100% but I think my UC needed a kick in the pants with the straight use of entocort enema's to "put the fire out" now i'm having no blood, no mucus, and I can function. I will use the entocort every3rd day scipping 2 days in between and see how this goes until I can be off entocort alltogether and just on Asacol. Then I will try to ween myself off Asacol. Hopefully SCD will allow this.

I hope you don't feel I judged you or anything. We all make our own choices

with meds, diet, alternative care or whatnot to get better.

I asked about the Hydrocortisone as I didn't understand if you were using

Bio-Identical Hydrocortisone like Crotisol (there are a bunch of names on the

market) You clarified for me that you are using Entecort enemas which wasn't

what I was thinking about.

I was looking into bio-identical HC lately.. I took it after my recent surgery

to help me get off of Prednisone to aid my Adrenal function.

I thought you may be well seasoned dealing with Cortisol while having UC.

Haven't spoken to any IBD'ers directly about it.

I really hope what you are doing works for you!

Keep up with the diet.. That first year can be a bumpy road!
