Guest guest
Tonya and all--here is grandma Sally's chopped liver recipe. It is SCD legal except where my Dad writes to use bread or crackers to push the last of the liver thorough the grinder. he writes a chopper, but I remember her using a food grinder. You can use some souffle bread for that. Hope you like it--it is good well chilled and if well seasoned, better to sit to let the flavors meld. Terry CHOPPED LIVER ½ LB chicken livers 4 hard boiled eggs (see #2) ¼ cup cooking oil (original used chicken fat- very tasty) 1 large onion, chopped Salt and pepper to taste 1- Heat oil in large skillet. Add onions and cook until golden 2- Boil livers in same water you are cooking eggs. Boil only about 8 minutes and drain 3- Alternately, put all ingredients through a food chopper (medium blade) Make sure onions are not last item. You can use some hard crackers or dried bread at the end to force liver ingredients out. 4- Mix well and season to taste
