Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have been sitting here on the sidelines for a little while reading everyone's posts. I so appreciate this group, it has given me so much support just to read the q & a's. I've been on scd since May 1st for IBS-C, chronic anemia, idiopathic anaphylaxis, and ever-increasing new food intolerances, and a couple autoimmune diseases. I'm 34. I had a question that may sound a little dumb, but I am seeing a naturopath this week and will be explaining to him how much better I'm doing on the diet and with the supplements (Prozymes, SCDophilus), and hence, want to make sure that any additional supplements he recommends, are compounded to be scd legal. I guess my question is, what do I say to the pharmacy regarding what can and can't be added to the supplements? Is there a standard base? And do I need the authorization to come from the naturopath, or can I just tell the pharmacist what to do? I'm a little worried that if I don't specifiy exactly what I can't have, that they may slip something in there, since most of what is in many supplements are completely unrecognizable (to me). Does anyone have any advice? Thanks so much, Teri SCD May 09 IBS-C

Guest guest
You need to find a compounding pharmacy that is familiar with SCD. Maybe someone in the group may be able to recommend someone to you. I have not had a need for this for myself, just for my cat, so I wouldn't be much help even if I knew approximately where you lived. Also, I may just check out the list of SCD docs to see if there are any in your area. http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/friendly_docs/world.htm and see if that person knows of a good pharmacy familar with SCD. If no one knows, take the BTVC book with you and talk to the pharmacist. Just off the top of my head. Take Care and keep up the persistance!! Guest guest
Thank you Val, Gay, and Eileen for your messages. I'm going tomorrow to see the naturopath and all the suggestions helped. I have a compounding pharmacy nearby (i'm in Sydney) that is also a naturopathic/homeopathic dispensary, and fingers crossed they will understand what I need. I couldn't find an SCD doctor in the BTVC link, Val, or in the SCD-Oz database, unfortunately. Thanks again, Teri SCD May 09 IBS-C Access Yahoo!7 Mail on your mobile. Anytime. Anywhere. Show me how.
