Guest guest
Hi Everyone! My name is Alyse. I was diagnosed with Crohn's in March and immediately started the diet, so it's been almost 5 months and I'm not on any meds. I feel great and look a lot healthier than before. Now that I've introduced myself I have a question about travel. In the fall, I'm going to New York to celebrate my 21st, and I was wondering if anyone has any travel advice. Are there any New Yorkers who know some restaurants where it's easy to follow SCD? Any help would really be appreciated. Thank you! -Alyse SCD 5 months and going strong

Guest guest
Hi Alyse, One suggestion is to call a couple places and see if they serve wild-caught fish. If so just have broil it, )emphasizing you have food allergies and you require CLEAN UTENSILS to be used) with olive oil and some garlic if you can tolerate it. Then get a side of well-steamed vegies (I always emphasize that the vegies must be mushy) and you can go almost anywhere and eat. If so just have broil it, It's safer to ask for it steamed or poached. When it's broiled, they may spray the grill so it won't stick. NYC is not that difficult, because there are plenty of people who make *odd* requests in restaurants and have food sensitivities and so on, so waiters are used to that kind of thing. Broiled or baked fish is easy - as it steak or hamburger or plain salads, etc. And you can go to TJs and Whole Foods to buy stuff for snacks - as well as cheese virtually everywhere. Not sure of your level from what you write. Mara
