Guest guest
Alyssa,You still don't know how ripe the bananas were when they were freeze-dried.Yeah, I know. I probably won't eat them from now on unless I have no other food and I'm out somewhere. And, being freeze-dried and crunchy, it's real easy to over-do on them.Lol yeah =)Dried, freeze-dried -- really no difference, except for the water. So, if dried fruits are advanced stage food, so are freeze-dried ones.Even if they are both advanced, I know there has to be SOME difference in them. I've had the banana chips before, which, if I remember correctly, the ingredients are only bananas as well, and they were hard and crunchy like toffee or something. And they could be in your mouth for a while and not really turn back into bananas. The freeze dried bananas are only slightly crunchy and as soon as they come into contact with your saliva, they absorb it and turn into a normal mushy banana. Is it because the chips are dried over a longer period of time? I looked online with not too much luck. It just seems like the chips have somehow undergone more change, and I want to know the difference. Alyssa, the TJ banana chips are not legal - not unless you get a different onethere then I've seen - the ones here are sweetened. It's the flattened bananas that have nothing added to them. Guest guest
I bought the TJ's freeze dried strawberries for my mom, and had 3 little pieces on our drive today (my first SCD trip, first stop Moab, Utah). They are so delicious! The bag says that it's one serving, but then also says that it came from 12 ounces of strawberries. Who in their right mind would eat that many strawberries in one sitting? Guest guest
Holly, 12 ounces would be like a cup and a half /2 cups, right? I could EASILY arf that amount of wild strawberries in one seating (there is an amazing farm now at the Market) I throw in a box or two of blueberries in my smoothie every morning. Well, I juice the blueberries first technically though the Omega.. it like macerates them.. Jodi
Guest guest
Are the flattened bananas ripe enough for SCD? Guest guest
Well, they're advanced, like all dry fruit. I don't get any symptoms from them - so I eat them. And I know others use them as well, since I read about them online. I feel comfortable with them as a snack food, but obviously they wouldn't work for everyone, just like larabars.
