Guest guest
Sheila, Thanks for a great informative post. Do you have a J-Pouch? So I have been taking lomotil (pills); should I switch to Immodium (pills-?). I am saving that post...thanks bunches. karima

Guest guest
White is fine with me to. Then no decisions to make of what color to buy:) I just wonder what people did before depends?????? On a personal note I wear the underpants pull on kind. Never tried them till my daughter bought me a package. Could never go back to the original ones now. I have spent the last two days mostly in bed. Great holiday. Since Friday I have one foot and ankle really swollen and can't figure why. It keeps the swelling down if I stay off it. Not red, does not hurt and makes no sense. Will call Dr if don't get better in few days. My son in law just came over to check on me because I was sleeping and did not answer phone. He wanted to take me to ER but don't think it warrants that. Besides a holiday they will be packed. Guest guest
Hil, could you have a blood clot in your leg? When I had one, my leg started to swell, my foot and ankle included, but the whole lower leg. I also had pain for several days before that. I wouldnt mess around with it though! ~~Dianna Hil hilsshop@...> wrote:White is fine with me to. Then no decisions to make of what color to buy:) I just wonder what people did before depends?????? Guest guest
That was my first thought especially because it is known I do have clogged arteries in my legs. Since the color is fine and no pain though I was just waiting a bit. I hate going to the ER but might end up there yet. The lower part of my leg is swollen also. I know when I got arthritis in the other ankle it swelled way up but only the ankle. My daughter's mother in law was taken to ER few weeks ago. her feet swelled real bad and turned purple. They ruled out blood clot and think its the chemo pills she is on. They did say people with cancer are prone to blood clots. Of course I don't have cancer. At least I keep telling myself:) Hil Re: help Hil, could you have a blood clot in your leg? When I had one, my leg started to swell, my foot and ankle included, but the whole lower leg. Guest guest
well...lomotil is a script...so if your doc thinks you need it stay on it. The immodium is over the counter....and I personally like the chewable ones...I take three when things are " going " too much. It doesn't stop it ....just seems to slow it down some. Since the immodium is over the counter it shouldn't hurt to try it...just ask the pharmacist if they think there'll be any problem with anything you are currently taking. Glad that the info helped. I hate feeling tied to the toidy - so I can sure understand what your going through. No, I didn't have a j-pouch...my doc didn't seem to care for them. Not saying it's wrong or right...I mean - the theory of j-pouch makes sense to me. But I guess the reality is how it really ends up working for the patient. Just keep trying....find things you can do safely and keep trying different combinations of things. I went out today and photographed and sketched. And saw a movie. I didn't have to go once in the approx 7 hours. Amazing!! Some days - I can't get off the pot for more than an hour in between if that. But the days when I can go for long periods of time are getting more....slowly. But it's still in the right direction. I have days when I can't stand it...as I did recently. But the thing is...if I do what I'm supposed to do...I know that the next days is usually a good one. Then I get back on course and stay on it as long as I can. It makes those not so good days not so bad. Or at least tolerable. Prayers help too! Hoping you feel better. Sheila

Guest guest
I have DVT (deep vein thrombosis), usually the clot causes pain, but I've read not always. It would make one leg swell instead of both, like happened to me. The artery thing you have might be peripheral arterial disease, that is usually pain in both legs enhanced by walking, I dont know if that makes your leg swell or not. When you press on your shinbone for several seconds, does it leave a dent? I had that, as the blood clot prohibits blood from leaving your leg and causes fluid buildup, other things cause swelling too, just please get it checked out soon. ~~Dianna Hil hilsshop@...> wrote:That was my first thought especially because it is known I do have clogged arteries in my legs. Guest guest
The swelling does seem to be down some tonight and I will call my Dr tomorrow and see what he thinks. Probably will tell me to come in or is good about sending me to ER as he is 45 minutes from me and knows I have to get a ride. He always prefers to see me himself. Even with the distance I won't change as been going to him for 22 yrs. No tried and it don't leave any dent:) I was forced to quit work because I could not walk but a few feet before the pain in both legs started. I was being checked by a vascular surgeon and the medication I was on was really helping. Some where along the line I got taken off that med but still have not had the pain or terrible cramping in feet like I used to have. My last appt for a check up with him we cancelled as I had just been diagnosed with the cancer and been busy with those Dr's since. I don't walk much and if I do the pain is not there. I also need one knee replaced but have decided I like that knee and will keep it. Being housebound with the colon problem I do not get enough exercise except going up and down stairs to bathroom all day. That is something I have to change and start taking the dog for walks or something even if it is back and forth in front of the house. I am afraid to go far as my knee will lock up sometimes and I am stuck:) My neighbors all know me well so would think nothing of me just walking back and fourth but it has been either to cold or way to hot to get out there. My life time handicap sticker does come in handy for these Dr appts though:) Hil Re: help I have DVT (deep vein thrombosis), usually the clot causes pain, but I've read not always. Guest guest
The reality of the j-pouch is that it is a necessity for someone like me who had their rectum removed. Fortunately my doc was able to save the sphincter and that is what the j-pouch is attached to. I had a much better day in that I ate and did not obsess. Of course, I didn't go at all today so I had the cup of tea and we will see what goes on tonight. I am more encouraged today than I was yesterday. Plus, the gals from the j-pouch chat told me not to let this keep me in the house. Today I stayed in because all the New Yorkies are up here doing the weekend thing and they drive like loonies. Have a good day. karima Re: help well...lomotil is a script...so if your doc thinks you need it stay on it.
