Hi,

I purchase the Welch's 100% Grape juice for my son. On the plastic jug it stes that it 100%White Grape Juice from conentrate with added ingedrients. It states that it has no added sugar and artificial flavors. The added ingredients is the sulfites for maintaining freshness and flavor. I went to the welch's home page and I couldn't find another juice product that looked legal. Can someone please tell me if I am using the wrong juice and if so what does the bottle say on it so that I can be positive I am using the right one.

Thanks,

My daughter followed SCD to the letter for one full year. I heard some SCDer's say Welch's 100% Grape was OK and others disagreed.

We decided to go for it. It was the only juice my daughter drank (50% water) all year and she had some every day. We ate it in slushies, popsicles and smoothies too.

My daughter has had an amazing recovery throught out this year, all due to SCD. After being very very sick with Crohn's she hasn't seen a doctor in a year, no pain, no meds. We're very happy with the Welch's for her. The rest of my kids drink the cheaper Walmart Brand 100% juice. With 6 kids here everyday it gets pricey.

THANK YOU SCD!!!

Thanks Donna. I am so happy that your child has made so much progress. We are hoping for the same. So did your daughter drink the same Welch's drink that says from concentrate with added ingredients. The added ingredient being the sulfite. I was trying to find one with no added ingredients but I couldn't find one so I assumed I purchased the correct one.

Thanks,

I have a bottle that says only vit c added. It's Welch 100 % in a plastic bottle

purple grape juice. I don't see any sulfites added to it. Maybe some others can

help here.

Donna- that is an amazing story! Thanks!

the ascorbic acid is okay, it is the kind with fiber or calcium added that are the problem. Sulfites are a problem for some, but it isn't a SCD thing, it is just that some react to sulfites.

I have yet to find some good popsicle makers!! The kids here make them in ice trays with foil on top (to hold the toothpicks) then put in toothpicks. It's NOT the best way to go but the only way for us right now!! LOL!

That is what we have always used. I always buy it at Walmart. The Walmart brand that the rest of my kids drink is right next to it. The ingredients seem the same but I don't trust the generic for her. I'd like to keep her as sugar free as possible.

I did start letting her drink Tropicana "original" orange juice towards the end of the year. She drinks it a lot now.

I highly recommend a cheap slushy maker. She drank those ALL the time when she first began.

I forgot we made lots of jello with the Welch's in the beginning too!!

I even made a jelly for her with the juice. The whole family loved it. I would have to look up the exact recipe again but I boiled grapes put them through a strainer, then added gelatin and Welch's juice and let it cook down a long time. It was really good but I got burned out on making it all the time. It only stays fresh a week or so so don't make too much.

Speaking of popsicles - what is the trick to getting thepopsicle out of the plastic part?Run water (doesn't even really have to be warm, but it's quicker if it is) over the plastic part and wiggle the stick around (but not too hard or it will come out without the popsicle) until the popsicle is free. The water melts the very edges of the popsicle and makes it pop out of the plastic part. If you ever decide to get different molds, the Tovolo brand at amazon are nice.

I've got the " Groovy " ones:
