Guest guest
Hello everyone, It's Kaitlyn's Mom here. I don't write in for help very often as Kaitlyn has been doing very, very well while on SCD. I do read the posts from here, SCDinfo and Pecanbread EVERY day though!! Problem: During vacation in Fenwick Island, DE, we decided to buy some of Kaitlyn's favorite treat: steamed chesapeake bay blue crabs. They were very delicious until ...... 1 1/2 days later 2/3 of the family (4 of 6) people, including Kaitlyn, began with D. We ALL were not right for 7-8 days. During this time Kaitlyn had one day of visiting the restroom over 20 times. SCARY! This was also her first day back on the intro. The next day 6x, 5x the next and so forth. After 5 days she was down to 1-2 times a day however she still has all D and gas. She is feeling much better and started playing soccer again today without any problem. We are gradually adding more back to her diet such as green beans and steak and trying to limit the honey (she can't get enough of it!). Today was day 12 of D. She is only taking Claritin, no other supplements or anything. It just so happens that her pre-scheduled GI " well-visit " is this Friday. Not sure what they will say/do. Should I ask that they do a stool analysis to see what type of critter we are dealing with? Do you suggest any other types of tests? Any advice would be appreciated! Regards, Kaitlyn's Mom Kaitlyn, now 11! CD since 1/07 SCD since 9/07 med-free since 9/08 and really want to be able to celebrate 1-year med free! Guest guest
My main problem was D after waking up. If this is the case with your daughter, I can tell you about my experience and everything I did. Guest guest
A regular stool analysis will probably not be that helpful,as most of them are not sensitive to the kinds of thingswe are dealing with, though in this case, since it was akind of food poisoning, perhaps you would be lucky. You need one from Genova Diagnostics or places similar to that. You can look it up on the webto get their info and your doctor would have to sendin a script.
