I haven't been on here for ages. Everything was going along pretty smoothly for months. I will recap my daughter's scenario. I would love feedback from anyone out there if they have dealt with this and what has helped.

Here it goes:

Rach is 14. 3 years ago she had exteme anxiety. We found out she has celiac disease. Once, GF, she was alot better mentally.

Then the anxiety hit again last summer and she was off school for 3 months due to Panic attacks, etc.

A nutritionist found out she had an overgrowth of bacteria in her gut, put her on the SCD, and within 2 months of being on the diet, she was back to school. and did fine for about 5 months. Then June hit and anxiety started again. (I see it as a seasonal thing. We have had 3 out of 4 bad summers.) So, here we are with school starting in 2 weeks and she's freaked out about it. We recently went to an MD who is doing applied kiniosology (spelling error, I know). and he felt her nervous system is blocked and her gall bladder is not functioning properly. and put her on a few supplements. We have stopped the 13 supplements that she's been on thru the nutritionist. and are only doing the 4 from the MD. She started them on Tuesday of this week.

She's still on the SCD but cheats at times, which the nutritionist felt is understandable since she's 14. The goal originally had been for her to be on the diet for 6 months and we are close to a year. She eats healthier than 99% of 14 year olds out there.

I will also add that her one thyroid level is high but the other level isn't so she was never put on meds for her thyroid. But it is the early stages of Hashimotos. (My hubby has Hashimotos and celiac disease.)

So, here we are. A few weeks before school and anxiety is getting higher with her.

I am hoping these 4 supplements that the MD says her body needs will be the answer. We are praying it is.

Just wanted to see if anyone has had similar issues and your opinion about it all.

Also, what water does everyone drink? The nutritionist had Rach drinking distilled all these months. We have city water and live near Chicago. We aren't on a well or anything. It's Lake Michigan water.

The MD said to just use a Brita pitcher and use tap water. Just wondered what you all drink.

Thanks in advance for any advice or feedback.

There is a relationship between thyroid problems and anxiety- and symptoms of

anxiety like racing heart beat. Also- any " cheating " - if it's gluten, could

cause problems if she has celiac. Lastly- some kids are just prone to anxiety

and she could also just be very worried about school. Is there some way you can

help her work on that?

Just curious if you know if her supps are all SCD

Hi Marla,

I used a Brita water filter for years – it only scrubs out

the chlorine and not much else. Tap water is so contaminated these days that I

finally bought a Multi Pure Water Filter. They are pricey (like $400) but worth

it in my opinion. They are supposed to be the best on the market. http://www.multipureco.com/product_info.htm

Also, many people with Hashimoto’s are using LDN (low dose

naltrexone) with good results www.LowDoseNaltrexone.org

I have seen that information posted at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/lowdosenaltrexone/

of which I am a member.
