Guest guest
I can't imagine how. Does anyone have any experience like this? Hi Rhonda, Keep the faith! It took my son's fistulas over a year to heal on SCD. In the meantime try using Calmoseptine ointment around the fistula opening. It is soothing and prevents irritation. See: http://www.calmoseptineointment.com/ Take care, Pat
Guest guest
Hi Rhonda, I'm really sorry! Try not to get too discouraged. had a fistula when we started the diet and it took 6-8 months to heal. His was to his bladder...sounds like 's is anal. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the diet. I'd bet that it has been in the works for a while now. I don't think those things just pop up over night. I know 's didn't. They take quite a while to heal but but just stick with the diet and it'll happen. Today told me he thought he had a second fistula and asked me to look at it. I checked and not only is the first fistula bigger, but there is a second large fistula near it. We've been on the diet just under 2 months and I thought things were going so well. His GI doc is on vacation until mid September and we'll see him then about it. I've started him back on soaking in Epsom salts 3x day, told him to keep it clean. I'm just crushed. Is there some part of the diet that triggered this? I can't imagine how. Does anyone have any experience like this? He's been so good with the diet and so positive about it. Rhonda UCSon, 16, CD

Guest guest
I have had an anal fistula for about a year, if not longer, varying in size. I am very fortunate that it has not been painful (like others I've had) or infected, etc. I've found if I stick with the diet and don't let my emotions/stress get the better of me, I continue to do well. It too will come to pass. Tasha SCD 6/04 CD 7/03 Subject: Re: Another Fistula, help! To: BTVC-SCD Date: Thursday, August 6, 2009, 2:15 PM Hi Rhonda, I'm really sorry! Guest guest
Rhonda, Just wanted to let you know that my daughter also had a fistula when she started the diet. It took a while but it disappeared! It's been almost a year since it's been gone. She is doing so well!! She was only 9 when we started the diet. She didn't cheat (intentionally) for the full year, never! I am so so glad for this diet and this on-line group. Hang in there, stick with it! Donna O'Connor Mother to Bridget 10 Crohn's SCD 13 mo. Guest guest
I made the same mistake at first- bought the wrong starter. I still have a bunch of it- it's not returnable. Wish I knew what to do with it instead of throwing it out. It's a learning curve really- PJ > > > I'm nearly in tears. All of this work...
