Guest guest
I am flaring so bad, the pain was so bad I had to go to ER. The dr gave me Flagyl and Cipro to take. My new GI said to take these first then start on the LDN. I am so naucious I can hardly stand it. Eating is very difficult. Any advice. So sorry to hear! When I first got UC symptoms my doc thought it was parasites, and put me on Flagyl. Those were the worst ten days of my life!!! I was so nauseous all day. Get off the flagyl if you can, since Id bet that's what's making you nauseous. If not, iced peppermint tea helped me. I just sipped it all day and ate when I could. The nausea's worse on an empty stomach. Gosh, I hope you get better soon, I know how terrible you must feel. Just remember that it won't go on forever, and you'll make it through! Try the iced peppermint tea though. Very soothing. Good luck! Guest guest
Mine put me on Flagyl too in the beginning. I felt terrible on it. So sorry you have to take it. Is it possible that he would take you off it if you told him it made you feel bad? PJ > > > I am flaring so bad, the pain was so bad I had to go to ER. The dr > > gave me Flagyl and Cipro to take. It may be what is causing the nausea, but finishing the antibiotic is best, unless it's discussed with a doctor. Guest guest
Pam, So sorry to hear you are having such pain. I looked up side effects of Flagyl, you might want to read them here http://www.drugs.com/sfx/metronidazole-side-effects.html Did the flagyl cause you to flare? I read on the page that it is not recommended for people with gut problems or Crohn’s. I wonder if you are experiencing a major die-off? I hope you’re alright soon. And that’s wonderful that you will soon be taking LDN! Can you tolerate the chicken broth/soup? Guest guest
Thank you all for your concern and the information that you provided. I have one more day on the Flagyl and Cipro. I am still naucious and can't eat but it its weird, I have not had M or B in my stool or any pain since day two on these meds. This is why I decided to bear through these bad symptoms. I thinks these meds are treating something, I just can't image what. It feels like extreme die-off. Headache, nausia, white coat on tounge and very, very tired. Any thoughts? P.S. I feel fortunate to have this group to turn to. Pam Express your personality in color! Preview and select themes for Hotmail®. Try it now. Guest guest
Hi Pam-- I'm glad you're almost through your course and glad some of your symptoms stopped. I'm sorry, I don't know if I missed it or not, but why did your doc put you on the Cipro and Flagyl to begin with? Did he/she give you a reason? Guest guest
I used the flaygl/cipro combo for years to control my crohn's symptoms before I found SCD, they're good stuff but you have to keep recycling if you don't control the bacteria with diet. Guest guest
Many many years ago (27) when all this started for me I eventually found a good alternative doc and I ended up on Flagyl for whatever period it is you take it. Seems like it was a month. Anyhow, I don't remember specific symptoms but I felt dreadfully ill the entire time, a lot like having a bad flu where you really can't do anything but lie around. It got better when the prescription ran out. Good luck, these are not fun times.
