Guest guest
Hi Mo,Welcome :-)Some people have a difficult time tolerating the yogurt. I'd introduce it slowly, like 1/4 or 1/2 tsp a day and gradually increase it from there.Yes, there is a recipe for cooked mayo at, http://www.pecanbread.com/new/recipes/cookedmayonnaise.htmlI leave out the honey. I just prefer it that way and I salt to taste and I use vinegar if I don't have lemons on hand. This yogurt maker is $34.00, http://www.amazon.com/YoLife-YL-210-Tribest-Yolife-Yogurt/dp/B001D09LLU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & s=hpc & qid=1249702434 & sr=8-1 and it looks pretty cool. You can either make yogurt with the small cups that it comes with or with your own containers. Someone here has this one and said she can fit 3 quart size mason jars in it at a time. I'd like to have one but can't really justify buying it when I already have a yogurt maker that works. Wish the darn thing would break ;-)You could check Craigslist and garage sales for a used one. In Elaine's book, she recommends eating the dry cottage cheese mixed with yogurt on day 1. I read on the pecanbread website that they recommend not introducing the yogurt (probiotics) until at least day 5. Does anyone have any suggestions on this? I have crohns disease. Also, I want to make homemade mayo but the recipe has a raw egg in it. Since egg beaters are illegal I'm concerned about eating something that has raw eggs in it. Does anyone have a recipe where the egg is cooked? I don't have a yogurt maker and I'm not crazy about investing in one since I don't know if the diet will work for me. Any suggestions on an inexpensive brand or even a used one? Thanks, Mo
Guest guest
Mo, it's okay to use some yogurt like Elaine says in her book to mix with DCCC. Pecanbread was started to support kids with autism. Check the archives for a recipe for cooked mayo because I think I've seen one before. You could try making yogurt in your oven or with a heating pad, there are directions on Elaine's site www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info Remember to add foods back in slowly and keeping a journal is a good idea. Katy I don't have a yogurt maker and I'm not crazy about investing in one since I don't know if the diet will work for me. Any suggestions on an inexpensive brand or even a used one?
