I've been taking them (after trying viactivs - for some reason i don't like the chewy chocolate taste in my mouth and prefer fruity flavors! Go figure! LOL). The carbonate is *not necessarily* bad. Many people's calcium levels are just fine and they take caltrate. I wanted to take it for the first three months post-op and then see about my levels. IF they are low, then I was going to switch to citrate. If one has low levels after taking calcium carbonate, then it probably is good to try to switch, etc. I've heard from Joy Frost that Twinlabs makes a brand of CHEWABLE citrate tablets! I haven't found them yet (really haven't started looking, but I suspect they may not be so readily available). So, there is at least one citrate brand that is in CHEWABLE form! Perhaps you'd like to try those out... all the best, laparoscopic BPD/DS with gallbladder removal Dr. Gagner/Dr. Quinn assisting/Mt.
