hi renae, your letter was interesting to me since i am 5' 6 " and weigh 250 lbs.

i was afraid maybe i couldn't have the surgery i had a stomach stapling in 1884

(so antiquated!) i was having gall bladder surgery, and i got the surgeon to

staple my stomach (that's all, no other changes) it worked fine for about 1

year then it was almost back to normal my top weight was 268. i have to

constantly diet and struggle just to keep my weight at 250. i want the new

surgery so badly, since i believe my metabolism is ruined from this surgery.

but i was also concerned about ds surgery since i could not go under about 150.

i hope you can shed some light on it. i am in chattanooga, tn. where are you?

also i don't know if i can get my records, since my dr died a few years ago, by

the way i am a female, 48 years old / married w/ 3 sons. thanks for any info.

Hi Everyone

I am VBG revision to DS, 5 weeks post op, and weigh 223 lbs. I was 245 the morning of surgery. I only want to lose 100 more lbs. I still have 17 more months of weight loss according to everyone who's had the surgery. I am wondering if anyone knew of some people who went into this at a weight simular to mine and how was the outcome 18 months later? No way can I lose more than 125 lbs total. I am going for my 6 weeks check up next week I am going to ask the length of my common channel then.

Renae

It seems to me you are worried you will lose too much?????

My experience is that the weight loss will really slow down after a while as you are able to eat more and you have a lower weight to maintain. I lost about 75 pounds in the first 5.5 months. In the next 5.5 months I have lost about 26 pounds. Now the scale just eeks down enough to show me this weight is going to last for more than 2.5 minutes. I am 5' 4" and am now 166. For some this may not seem a low enough weight, but I would be happy if I never lost another pound and was able to maintain where I am fairly easily. I am wearing a size 10 and sometimes a size 8. Occassionally I look at my legs and feel they are "fat". Then I have to take a moment and ponder on where I am compared to a year ago and tell myself to get a grip!

Thanks Dawn, yes losing to much was my concern,, Do you exercise and at what

time did you start? Before a foot injury I enjoyed working out 3 times a week

and I am really wanting to begin again..

I didn't start excercising until January. I have to say I haven't been entirely consistent. The good thing is that I do what I can and don't beat myself up thinking I am in for failure (like on diets before) if I miss now and again. I am much more active in general than I was before. I am also moving a lot because I am a teacher in a very large high school that has four floors.
