Guest guest
This may sound silly...but what if you bought a pair of latex gloves and tried wearing them for a little while? I think I may have heard someone say, they broke out in a rash from them. This is not scientific advice, just a thought! pause....I did a search on latex allergy in dogpile and found that the reactions range anywhere from contact dermatitis (rash) to Anaphylaxis (an unusual or exaggerated allergic reaction of an organism to foreign protein or other substances. Check it out. Odds are, you have nothing to worry about but it will give you something to do to pass the time while you wait for your big day! Wishing you all the best. Please keep us posted. Guest guest
, I have two clients one that has allergies to Band-Aid and one that has Latex allergy. The one that has the Band-Aid allergy says it can be from the adhesive that is causing the bad reaction there are allergy Band-Aids out there. You can buy them at any store. Also the one that had the latex allergy she would swell so bad you could not she her eyes. This would happen even if she walked in to a room of latex balloon or gloves. She worked at a lab in a hospital for years before she started to break out with allergies from latex. But I would try different Band-Aids first and see how that works if she still has problems I would talk to her doctor about it. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for the information on Latex allergies. I'm going to talk to her doctor. I looked at our local supermarket for some of the special Band-Aids that were mentioned. Either ones that indicated they were allergy Band-Aids or latex free and I couldn't find them, I'll have to check at Walmart. I don't know if Emma's G-tube is latex or not. It actually looks like silicon to me but I don't know if you can tell just by looking at it. Her G tube site is actually finally clearing up. The steroid cream that we have been applying seems to take a while to work (3 weeks) but her granuloma has finally stopped bleeding and has gone down considerably. Her G tube is a Ross Hide a port. I don't think she has any food allergies at this point. Are the foods you mentioned related to latex allergies? She was tested for several food allergies six months or so ago and she had a slight reaction to peanuts. Although, none of the ones you mentioned were ones she was tested for. Either way, I have never noticed a rash after she eats. I have to admit Emma really only eats bananas of the foods you listed. Occasionally, potatoes and avacados but its been months for both. They don't puree real well. They tend to be to thick and sticky for Emma. It's has to be really thin and absolutely can't stick to her mouth at all (automatic ticket for her to puke). She defiantely doesn't chew gum and coke and pepsi don't exist in our house. Thanks for the really useful information. I am hoping it's the adhesive on the bandaids and not latex. Talk to you later and hope everyone has a good weekend (we are finally getting some real rain this weekend!!!!) - mom to Emma 2 years w/cf and GERD and Isabelle 4 years wo/cf ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
