Dorian and Jeannie stayed there. They actually walked back to the hotel 1 week post-op after attending a Dr. E. support group at the hospital. Maybe they can furnish recommendations. I do not know where Dr. E. sees patients post-discharge/post-op: in his office or in the hospital. But, the hotel situation near his office is bleak (I work in the area) because many new office buildings have been erected, but no new hotel space has been added. There is an EconoLodge (or similar budget name) at the intersection of Interstate 66 and Lee Highway (Route 29/211) in Falls Church. It is a bit closer to his office than to Fairfax Hospital, but not terribly far from either. As to extended stay hotels, there are some " Suites " hotels in the Tysons Corner area, a very busy and densely trafficked business-shopping-mall area west of the intersection of Routes 495 (Beltway) and Route 7. If you have the strength you could shop 'til you drop while in recovery. But, the place where Dorian and Jeannie stayed might also be a " Suites " kind of place. --Steve
Guest guest
Steve, Thanks for the update. I think we have a hotel we got off priceline.com for $40 a night. It is 4.4 miles from the hospital (not quite sure I will be ready to walk that distance). What do you know about the Wellesley Inn of Fairfax? I got this description from the web: The Wellesley Inn Fairfax is located in beautiful, historic Fairfax City just minutes away from several shopping malls and business districts, as well as the nation's Capitol. The hotel is a newly renovated four-story building with all interior, well-lit corridors. The lobby is richly decorated with imported marble and tastefully chosen artwork. Being four-story means that it is not one of the several wood-cabin motels in that ares. I'd guess that it is OK. The address is Lee highway, but Lee Highway does not run through the heart of Fairfax City. It skirts the outre boundary of it. Don't even think of walking to/from it, though. You'd get mown down by traffic. --Steve
