Guest guest
Anne, I would give my right arm to have pickles I can eat again. I LOVE pickles and even before I found SCD 2 months ago there's always something in them that disagrees with me. I love your recipe, but... is there something I could use other than the whey? I won't be able to try anything dairy for quite awhile. I presume this is what is going to ferment them? Any other choices here? Although I love old-fashioned recipes I admit when it comes to pickles or sauerkraut I don't much like the idea of skimming scum off the top of a crock for weeks and weeks! Hi, I am new but just have to chime in about pickles. They are kind of my thing apparently...hubby loves them. You can buy...but they are soooo cheap and easy to make. They are probably the easiest thing other than beets to pickle. It is basically the cukes, salt, whey (from your yogurt or can buy non dairy), garlic, and herbs. Really so easy and ready in just a couple of days. I have a couple of jars on my counter now waiting for me to put the lids on. I line up a few jars of different veggies and pour in the liquid all at once. It is nowhere near as much work as kraut. No mushing or anything. The taste is to die for too! No heat, and they are extremely probiotic. They take less time to make than the trip to the store If you are interested, just drop me a line. Good Pickles Anne
