warm up a hotdog scd legal and veggies and then put into a thermos, it works

Ish. I'm looking for meals that can go harmoniously into one big

thermos, and will hold me for a few hours. For school. I don't like

taking 5 assorted thermoses, tupperware, and baggies! I'm enough of a

dork as is =) Heh but anyways I want to have a veggie and a meat  but

have them as one dish, ya know? Anyone have anything tried and true?

meatballs and tomato sauce are perfect for a thermos, though no veggie

I also heat up chunks of hamburger, chicken, pork tenderloin or whatever, heat up some ketchup and combine the two into a hot thermos so my son doesn't have to take a separate container of ketchup.

My family likes hamburger stew - hamburger browned in a skillet, a can of tomato juice, oregano salt and pepper to taste, 1-2 cloves of garlic sauteed in (1-2 per lb. of meat) and frozen green beans cut into bite size ...let it all simmer until juice thickens into a sauce. Easy, not exactly low fat ;) and one pot...yay.

Hope that helps and isn't too nerdy :)

cinnamon apples, beef stew with carrots, onions, celery; chicken with chunks of

butternut squash…in a thermos.

Hi Alyssa,I have used zucchini noodles and meatsauce for a "one container" lunch. I use a jar that I carry in a cooler, but I would think it would work well in a thermos. If your thermos is not too tall, you might be able to layer things the way I do in my jar. I often put in a bottom layer of a vegetable, such as steamed or roasted broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, green beans, beats, or greens. Then on top I put my meat: meat loaf (grain free gourmet has great recipe), chicken or turkey sausage patty (notes below), baked beans (BTVC), pieces of chicken, turkey, roast pork. I use the pork sausage recipe from Lucy's Kitchen cookbook, substituting ground turkey or chicken. If you have a choice of dark or light meat, it can make a nice variation to use one for a batch and then change. I like both equally. I use the same spices, except I leave out the cayenne. I then bake them in the oven on a broiler pan at 350 for about 30 minutes. They are really yummy and they travel well. When I put them in my jar, I break them up into pieces so I can just stab them with my fork. I do the same with all the other meats.I have all the meats frozen, so if I remember, I take one serving out the night before, and then it is ready to break up and put in my jar to go to work.At lunch time I just use my fork to pick up pieces of each part of the meal. I use a large glass peanut butter jar and it works great. I'd think you might be able to do the same with a not too tall thermos.I also make the vegetable quiche from the everyday grain free gourmet and take that in a flat glass container. It is great cold. I use roasted asparagus or roasted broccoli and cauliflower. I've even used french cut green beans in a pinch. The recipe says you can use whatever you feel like. It's a great recipe and it looks really normal. People comment on how good it looks!I always really really look forward to my lunch! HTHJeanineceliacSCD 2 years 9 monthsIsh. One very easy way to jazz up plain chicken is this:

for each serving of chicken:

1 lg slice onion or as much as half of a small onion, chopped

1-3 fresh mushrooms, depending on size, sliced or chopped

1/2 stalk celery, chopped - if desired

several slices of fresh ginger root, or a few dashed of powdered

Saute the onion until soft. I use olive oil, you can use what works

for you or just a bit of water in a non-stick pan. Saute celery along

with it if using celery. Add mushroom after a couple of minutes. You

CAN do these all together. If using fresh ginger root saute that

with the veggies. If not, add the powdered ginger and cook the last

minute or so.

If you cook the onions soft enough it sort of makes a bit of

sauce. Either spoon over the chicken or you can heat your cooked

chicken in it. This really makes a nice change from plain chicken,

and you could just as easily add any green herbs you like instead of

the ginger for another change.

Size up according to how many people you are serving chicken to.

I think this could go in a lunch box perfectly well. I would just add

whatever veggies you like and tolerate as well.
