I'm sorry I won't get to meet you but I do hope to sometime. Let me know how your consult goes and I'll do the same. Guest guest
Hi, I had my initial consult with Dr. Hess on Feb 8th, I was put on the tentative surgery schedule for Aug. 27 but told that I would be moved up once insurance had cleared me. Around three weeks later I was called by Dr. Hess' nurse. I was Cleared by my insurance co and how would I like a surgery date of April 11th!!! I accepted that date and April 11th is just a few days away! It all happened rather quickly for me. I suggest you check out the website www.duodenalswitch.com. You will see that Dr. Hess is More Than just skilled in this surgery, He developed it! However, he does not do the surgery Lap, only open. Good luck, I have complete faith in Dr. Hess, and although I am still preop (at least for 2 more days) I would recommend him to anyone. a Pre op 4/11/10 " Moving full speed ahead back into life " (biting my nails the whole way)... > I was wondering what is the waiting list for Dr. Hess? I may consider > going to him. or are there any other doctors that have worked closely > with him. I would like to have a with extensive exprience with the ds > surgery. I would appriciate any information that is shared. thanks > ever so much.

Reply-To: duodenalswitch Date: Sun, 08 Apr 2001 20:39:54 -0000 Hi.. I had my surgery with Dr Hess in July of 99..My first visit was in April of 99 and it was a matter of having my insurance approve of the surgery. I must tell you though, that since I am a teacher, Dr Hess was very gracious to schedule this for me as soon as possible so that I would be able to return to teaching on opening day in the fall. Guest guest
HI-- Dr. Hess has a Patient Brochure on the duodenal switch surgeons page. As far as the testing goes, I was told that " they " like us to have our testing and physical done there with an internist, I can't remember his name off the top of my head, that Dr. Hess regularly works with. I was told that I could go the day of my consult for simple labs and CXR and would have to schedule to come back for endoscopy. I live 4 hours away. I am hoping, however, that once I go for the consult that Dr. Hess himself will tell me it's ok to have things done here for convenience sake if nothing else! Anyone out there who wants to share their experience with this issue? > Hello all, > Does anyone know if Dr. Hess has a web site? Anyone out there who wants to share their experience with this issue? I had some tests done there and then the others that had to be scheduled done at my local hospital. You do have to be very proactive doing this. Be sure to get all of your own copies from the hosptial because sometimes they don't make it to Dr. hess or Wood County Hospital. Because my surgery date was moved up very quickly I didn't have time to get in to see Dr. Dawley (internist) before my surger date. So they called Dr. Dawley in the day before to clear me for surgery. This was a little nerve racking because I wasn't sure I was cleared for surgery until I was already in the hospital, but it all works out. I would recomment (and Hess may require) that you get cleared by Dr. Dawley specifically because he has so much experience with obese patients. Another internist may not have a full understanding of the procedure you are going to be having and how it will benefit your health. Also which things would be a red flag for no surgery and which wouldn't be a big deal. He has a lot of experience with morbid obesity. Dawn Dr. Hess 267 to 165 size 22 to size 10 5'4" no more high blood pressure, sore feet, or dieting!! have met size goal, weight goal to be adjusted!
