Guest guest
HI there, My name is Carla, I am 36 yrs old, 5 7 and 300 lbs. I recently switched insurance from Kaiser to Aetna HMO thru my work ( these are my only 2 options) I have researched long and hard for the last 4 months and I have decied that the D/S is the only way to go. Now my problem. I can't get find a PCP and I think my only options are Dr. Keshishian and Dr. Anthone....Dr Rabkin chanrges to much for me, I'm sure he's great, but funds are an issue. Can anyone help me? Thanks so much. I know I can have the RNY, but it just would be right now that I know the facts. Carla Fountain
Guest guest
I would suggest that first you decide which surgeon you want to use. Then call their office and ask them to recommend a PCP who is friendly toward WLS. Thanks Joe, I did that all morning, before I wrote to the list, that was my issue. They won't give it up...oh well. I will keep trying. I guess I need to know if anyone out there has had a D/S with Aetna HMO in California and who was your surgeon and who was your PCP. Thanks for tolerating my whining. Guest guest
Hi Carla, I am a lurker here in this group. I am going to have an Open DS with Dr. Crookes sometime in the future (work-ups schedule for next week). When I was starting out investigating WLS I spent a lot of time on the AMOS site. It was through that site I found out about the DS. What I would do is go to http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/showpeopleinstate.phtml? State=CA There you can find others that are having WLS, what type of WLS and who there doctor is, what insurance they have, etc. You also might tell us where you live in California.. Guest guest
Hi Ron, Thanks for the info. I have been on that site many time over the last 4 months. I have been a Kaiser member for so long that I am lost in this whole HMO world. I live in the Central Valley (north) in a town called Ripon, near Modesto.
