Guest guest
Barbara, Hi....this is true that every doctor is different. I had a friend who was suppose to lose 33lbs and only lost about 10lbs and he still did the surgery. He went off of her blood tests. She is diabetic and her hemoglobin(I think that was it) was improved so that is why he did it. I also think it depends where you go, etc. I will be done with my 8 week classes next Friday and am 10lbs from my 10%. I am hoping to have surgery in August and am working very hard on the last 10lbs. Every Kaiser is different too.....here in Riverside you have to take a 24 week class, 8 weeks if you have documentation of dieting, and then you get the ok to go see the surgeon. The surgeon that I have chosen is Dr. Suh with Crown Bariatrics. Crown Bariatrics has their own requirements. You have to attend one seminar and 2 support group meetings before surgery.....this is totally mandatory. They also just started a new 2 hour class that is also required. It is suppose to better prepare you for surgery and afterwards. This new class just started in June. They have lots of hoops for you to go thru, but it gets you better prepared and lets you make sure you want to really do this. The Dr. actually told us that he would take the weight from when your primary Dr faxed in, but then he also said if we have proof of our weight up to a year ago from a Dr they would consider it. I just think each Dr. is different. But i am going to take his word for it.Makes me closer to my 10%.I hope to learn alot from this group.. Thank you!! Barbara Yahoo! Sports Rekindle the Rivalries. Guest guest
heres my opinion and experience with fremont.. you weigh in at orientation..and set your 10% goal....BUT if you can get your highest weight recorded at kaiser in the last year and bring in a copy they will adjust your 10% requirement at the time you meet at the big appt, where you meet the DR, nutritionist, paperwork, and set your 2nd psych appt...now in my case, Dr Dutta also took my weight watchers chart (kaiser has partnered with weight watchers as of april 2005 you get a discount when you buy 12 weeks through kaiser )which was 10 pounds heavier then my highest weight, I had gotten a copy of my kaiser chart from the medical secreatary at Kaiser south sacramento...and he looked at both weights and made HIS decision...for ME really this just added a pound to my 10% goal, but by taking my weight watchers chart i had lost 19 lbs, and was 7 to goal- if he hadnt i would have only shown a 2 pound loss since orientation... i know its confusing, but the bottom line is that we need to work on 10% and its up the your Dr to decide the starting weight and goal weight... sarah castro approved fremont psych apt 7-26 then hopfully surgery in AUG!!! > Hi there..I went to my orientation recently and in the meeting of > course the 10 % weight loss came up. Guest guest
Where did you have your orientation? If it was Fremont, that's how they do it.
