Hi everyone!

I can't believe that it has been 9 weeks already sine I was switched.

I have lost 40+ pounds and am currently sitting on a plateau which I

hope will end shortly. Although the first 5 weeks were hell for me --

I was in the office once a week during that time -- I am doing a lot

better now. Eating is still an adventure. I try new foods and some

work fine, others not so great. More frustrating is when I prepare

something I have been tolerating well, only to suddenly find it won't

go down.

In general I can eat just about anything. I try to stay away from

fried foods, sugars, and carbs, but I will admit that I do eat them

occasionally. Especially things like corn on the cob and macaroni

salad. However I still eat at least 4 oz of protein with every meal

and I am doing good getting my daily portion of protein.

Over the past week my energy level has shot through the roof. Walking

is becoming more of a joy, and less of " doctor says I have to " . I am

cooking, doing dishes, shopping and all kinds of things I haven't had

the energy to do. My mom is very excited. She has been really

terrific and understanding through these past weeks.

So all you who are recently switched or pre-op, hope my experience

will give you hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

You may be depressed at first and you will probably hurt, but in a

few short weeks you start to forget those days. Milestones begin to

pass, like feeling cheek and jaw bones for the first time in forever.

Clothes are falling off that were tight before surgery. Don't beat

yourself up those first weeks, look forward to your new future.

Everything becomes so much less difficult and you can see that there

will be better days very soon.

Keep smiling, Pamela
