Yep, I was...you busted me!! Actually, I had just hung up. Turns out that lover boy is not only an incredible musician (Pam's heard some of his stuff...he plays the bass, sings, writes music, plays six other instruments)...but he's also an unbelievable artist. He scanned some of his stuff and I'm totally blown away. I'm serious. He's amazing. The first thing he sent was a photo of a sculpture...but he hadn't told me that he was an artist...so I thought it was a museum piece that he liked! Then he did some drawings of a couple of nudes that are just amazing...and one of them looks a lot like me when I'm thin. It's from behind, and she's holding up her hair that looks just like mine...it was really beautiful work. And then the thing that I loved the most was a oil pencil drawing he did, based upon a poem he loves. Here's a translation of the poem:

Alicante. (that's a beautiful, romantic city in Spain.)

Alicante,

An orange on the table

Your dress on the floor

And you in my bed

Sweet and gentle gift of the present

In the cool of the nightYou are the warmth of my life.--Jacques Prevert

Anyway, the painting is in these really neat, vibrant colors, and it is more stylized, not photoreal...more like Marc Chagall style (his wedding series). It's night, everything is dark blue...and there is the orange on the table, and the dress on the floor...and the man is sort of propped up against the backboard of the bed, and the woman is sleeping on his chest...and he has his arms around her, and is looking down upon her with a very protective, tender look...It's really romantic and just lovely. If I saw it in a gallery, I would love it.

So, i told him that if we ever live together, I want to have it framed (it's still in his sketch book), with a cut out in the mat below, and the words of the poem (in French) inlayed. I was just so blown away by how good it was...how incredibly detailed and beautiful the nudes are...and how remarkable the sculpture is.

He's also an actor. Very very artsy. I love that...particularly when it is a part of this incredibly masculine, deep-voiced, hubba hubba of a guy.

Plus, I found out that he and a guy friend of his sailed a tiny little sailboat from the South of France to Greece, took six weeks round trip. I find that extremely cool. Adventurous, and just...oh I don't know...HOT. The more I learn about him, the more impressed I am with him. He's so ridiculously modest...but definitely a Rennaissance Man.

sigh....

Robin, how creative and gifted! I don't have a whit

of musical or artistic ability, so I apppreciate it

that much more in others. He sounds exceptional.

Enjoy! ;)

I am enjoying!!! I have a bit of both (I play the piano, guitar, flute and I sing...and I can do a little bit of art, and I write poetry). He's much much much better than I am in all of those arenas. So, I have tremendous respect for him. (And he has the good graces to claim that I'm a much better singer than he is. Yeah, right...people don't PAY me to sing, and they do him...so you do the math!!)
