Guest guest
Congradulations on your approval, I was approved on May 27th and recieved an orientation date on June 12 for August the 30th.--- I recieved a letter this week saying to have about 12 vials of blood drawn for every lab test known to man. (Okay I am stretching the truth a bit). Which I did, also I need to have a chest X-ray and an ekg done, so I have to make a appointment with my PCP to recieve the proper paper work for these. Guest guest
Welcome aboard Amy. I can't answer any of your questions and I do apologize as I went through Kaiser Richmond. I wish you luck and I am sure people will chime in and provide assistance. Take care. Guest guest
Hi Amy- I am also from the Sacramento area and has my surgery through SSF. I was accepted by SSF in November but had to wait until February for my first appt there. After that, it actually went rather fast. My appts were set up out of order for some reason, so I met with Beth the nutritionist before I had my official orientation appointment. I asked her if she could document my official starting weight so I could get started losing and she agreed. Usually, your weight at their orientation is taken as your starting weight. By the time I had my first appt. with Dr. Stiles on April 20th she told me I had lost all that was needed (even though I had never had an official amount assigned) and " fast-tracked " me. They require you attend some pre-surgery orientations & support groups. Some of the meetings are up here but the " fast track " ones are only in SSF at this time. You are also supposed to maintain a food/water/exercise log and a daily journal. I had my surgery on May 25 and only stayed one night in the hospital. My husband & I went down the day before and I did the blood work that they require be done in SSF lab. We stayed at a hotel right next door for about $50 and walked across the parking lot for my 6:30 am surgery. Dr. Umbach was my surgeon and I have recovered well. I had five small incisions and was back to doing aquacize after two weeks (with his approval). The process seemed like it took forever from the point my primary care physician first referred me last summer but I realize now that there was really a lot of mental housecleaning that I needed to do, so it worked out well. It is my understanding that they are revising some of their appt. requirements and support classes so your experience may be different than mine. Also, they did not require a psych evaluation like some of the other centers do. I know that they used to but my impression was they didn't have the necessary staff available. Good luck! Sherri Starting weight (2-17-05): 320.5 Weight one week before surgery (5-17-05): 287.5 Weight on 6-30-05: 255 > > > Just wondering if anyone lives in the Sacramento > > area and has had oe > > is having surgery in South San Francisco Kaiser? Guest guest
Hi there.. Just thought I would let you know that the support group in Elk Grove is for anyone who is interest or going through it all and who has had the operation already. I have only been there once but it sure gets you excited about it all. The people are all great. I will be there, I'm still going through the process but the support group answers your questions. Hope to see you there. Barbara.. --- Amy bimtwst@...> wrote: > Wow, it sure does seem like it takes a while to > happen. I now have it > in my head that I want it done so I want it done > now! Guest guest
IF you are planning on having lap, I would see if your PCP can schedule you an ultrasound of your gall bladder. Dr. dennen has asked me to do that. It didnt delay me any but its just something to take care of. THat appt. for me is the 7th and then my 2nd psych is August 11th. Im at goal. Guest guest
I don't really know. When I had my orientation they weighed me in.In the meeting they just told everyone to do so. I am wondering if I called in and let them know this. I started losing weight back in Oct. The Dr at orientation said he would take my heaviest weight from 1 yr back,if I can show proof from a Drs. office.I started loosing weight starting in Oct.I'm going to get a copy of what I need on Friday. But I have only had the orientation.Should I call and let them know this, do you think I would get in earlier for my next appt?looking for some wisdom guys..because I am lacking in it..barbara --- LLLORY@... wrote: > > If you have already lost your ten percent, why do > you > have to call in every two weeks with a weight? > Laurie > > > > ____________________________________________________ > > Yahoo!
