Guest guest
Jeffi, Let me be first in line for the info! I too have Cigna (HMO) and they of course don't want me to go out of network. I think I will have 4 to 5 letters from my doctor, and specialists to back up my desire and need for the DS. If they deny my consultation with Dr. Hess, I'll send them all out (they all ready have one letter from my pcp). I'm holding the " big guns " back until I see if they deny me or not. Anyway, thanks for the offer for info. I hope to hear from you soon. Good luck on your quest for approval too! Angel --- Jeffigirl@... wrote: > Howdy ya'll! Guest guest
I currently working on Cigna too... I recently spoke to a rep on the phone and asked her under what critera would I be able to go out of network and she said that if I am approved for ds and they do not have a in network provider then they have to pay for the ds at in network rates... I do have a back up plan, I spoke to Cigna earlier and told that I may be moving to ca for an extended visit (I live in Az) I asked them if I would be able to pay extra to have coverage in that area. The rep told me about an option called guesting were you can switch your insurance to another state for 90 days, that way you can visit a pcp there for your normal co pay. So my thinking is that If they approve wls but not ds I just " guest " to ca get a pcp there and get the surgery I want with no network problems... far fetched I know but there is always hope!!! Guest guest
ann, I have Cigna also and am working on the dreaded " out of network " problem. I don't think I quite understand how using the guesting that way is going to work. Did you mean that they don't have an in network surgeon to do the DS in your current area, but you found one in CA (or AZ) and so you would go there? Or are you just having a problem finding a pcp who will give a referral to a DS surgeon? Sorry to be so confused but if that works for you I want to make sure I understand it so maybe I can use it if necessary! Thanks, Angel --- julieann85234@... wrote: > I currently working on Cigna too... Guest guest
Angel, I live in az and was denied for 2 reasons; 1. dr k is out of network and 2. they said I don't met the critera. I do meet the critera so I should be ok there, so I am only worried about the out of network problem. If I get approved but they want me to stay in network (there are no ds dr's in az) My plan is to tell them I am moving to ca for 90 days and would like to switch my benifits there for 90 days. Then I will be able to use dr k with no network problems!! (at least thats the idea I have no idea if it will work!) Ann > > > > Howdy ya'll! Guest guest
If you don't get a reply to your questions his name is Dr. Keshishian in Delano, I think you're talking about. You can check out postings for him on the AMOS site. Good Luck

Guest guest
ann, Hi-Why would they deny you coverage when they don't offer a surgeon in AZ who does the DS? If they will admit that you need the surgery, then it seems to me it's their fault for not providing adequate surgeon coverage.Good Luck with all of it! Let me know if your " guest " plan works.Carol >From: julieann85234@... >Reply-To: duodenalswitch >To: duodenalswitch >Subject: Re: Maybe a lucky insurance break >Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2001 19:01:11 -0000 > >Angel, > I live in az and was denied for 2 reasons; 1. dr k is out of network >and 2. they said I don't met the critera.
