Guest guest
Lori, My OB has me taking them on an empty stomach and waiting 1 hour until I eat anything. But, the nurse told me that if it upset my stomach then go ahead and take it with food. I suppose that taking on any empty stomach is better since it has nothing to attach itself to and you get all the nutrients in it. I would call my OB and check with them to be sure. Hope this helps. Guest guest
you will not absorbe a lot of the vitimins that you are taking...especially the iron. Iron and calcium X out each other...hope this helps vitamin question I was just told by a friend that I shouldnt be taking my prenatal vitamin with food or milk because it binds to the food or milk and passes right thru your body. Then you dont absorb any of the vitamins! She also said I should wait to eat or drink anything for at least a 1/2 hour after taking it. I have been taking them with milk every morning since day one. I really hope this isnt true. Has anyone else been told this? Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Miriam, I just take mine all at once. I asked the nutritionist about it once. I have a very bad time remembering to take them and she said it was ok. They recommend that you spread out your calcium but when I tried to do that I usually forgot to take half of it. I have been doing lab work every 6 months and so far all is good. I am 2 and a half years out. Ramona

Guest guest
Hi Miriam, COngrats on your being on the " other side " !! Sorry to hear you had an extented stay in the hospital. Hope you feel better today? Each day you will get better and feel stronger! I take my vits as follows. It works better to take the calcium before the carafate, I tried taking the multi vite first and it wasn't working. Plus the iron and calcium complete for abosorbtion so it is best to seperate by 2 hours. The b-12 can be taken at any time with food, without, or in combination with other vites or calcium. :-) The carafate also has drug interacations so there has to be a two hour window when taking the iron or vits. 6am- calcium 7am carafate 8am breakfast 10am mulit vit 12 cafarte 1 lunch 2:30 calcium 5 carafate 6 dinner 7 mulit vite and iron 9 calcium 10 carafate bed. When I spoke with Beth at Richmond she was impressed that I was able to keep the vits all spread out pretty evenly. You will find you get more energy by spreading them out as well. How are you feeling today? give us an update! Are you walking? How is the gas? Take care, Kay > Hello > I have a question? > Can i get some schedules on how some of you take your > daily vitamins. > I am finding a hard time trying to make mine work. > > Thanks > Miriam > > > __________________________________________________ >

Guest guest
I don't know about iron, but you need a minimum of calcitrate per day. At first they like you to take four Tums per day, even though the calcium in there is calcium carbonate. Some folks, on another list, say that you should never take calcium carbonate, but Doctor Dutta said that they want you to take the Tums for the first six weeks because they feel that the citric acid in the Calcitrate is not good for the pouch while it is in the early healing stages. Hope this helps. LaWanda At 01:53 PM 7/12/05, you wrote: >I took the page out of my binder with the vitamins >listed to go vitamin shopping, now I can't find the >sheeet. Guest guest
NOT good! The iron and calcium in particular need to be separated. The latest is that iron should be taken with C, and nothing else, although it MIGHT get along with B12. Iron also does not get along with many foods, including stuff like dairy. Here's my schedule (remember you asked for it) Morning: Colace (iron and/or calcium can plug you up) B Complex E (dry form) Calcium (with magnesium and D included) Multi Milk Thistle (helps liver) Relora (helps cravings) Stevia (also helps cravings) Coromega (omega 3 in gel form so I absorb it better) Mid afternoon: Iron C Dinner: Calcium Glucosamine Relora Stevia A&D (dry form) Zinc Bedtime: Colace Calcium Hair Skin Nails Multi Glucosamine Milk Thistle Relora Stevia B12 Coromega I have found that taking my vitamins with my meals, except the Iron/C batch, helps me remember. What I do takes a while, but works for me. I got a bunch of very small zippy bags (1 " x 2 " ?) at the craft store. I prepare at least two weeks worth of packs at a time. I put a batch of pills in each tiny bag, then one of each of the four packs into a snack size zippy, along with the Coromega packs (they don't fit in the itty bitty zippies). I reuse the bags many times, but they are fairly small (squeeze out the air) and easy to grab. If I lose the empty bags, it's no great loss, unlike regular pill boxes. I've even sometimes gotten my son (turns five end of next month) to help count pills into the paper cups I count into, before transferring pills into the little zippies. The whole process takes some time, but makes it really easy to grab a day's baggy, and I know what I've got. One other thing you can do is use a timer to remind to you take your vites. I have one on my watch and my cell phone, but you can also set up automatic reminders on your computer. Whatever works. sweetgemlady656@... wrote: > I just take mine all at once.
